Welcome to the Consulate General of Pakistan

The Consulate General of Pakistan, Shanghai was established on 9th December 2004. The Prime Minister of Pakistan Mr. Shaukat Aziz formally announced the opening of the Consulate on 17th December 2004 at Pakistan Trade and Investment Conference during his visit to Shanghai. The Consulate General of Pakistan has been fully functional and is providing all kinds of services to Pakistani and Chinese Nationals. Consular areas assigned to the Consulate are Shanghai (Municipality), Anhui, Jiangsu and Zhejiang Provinces.

Pakistan International Airline (PIA) was one of the first foreign Airlines to start Commercial Flights to Shanghai in 1964. Karachi and Shanghai established sister relationship in 1984, similarly, Punjab and Jiangsu Provinces established sister relationship in 1994.

During 2004, volume of trade between the Consular areas of the Consulate and Pakistan was close to USD 1 billion. Many Chinese companies are involved in major construction projects in Pakistan like Thar Coal Power projects, Gwader Deep Sea Port Projects & Chashma Nuclear Power Plant.

Investment from the Consular Districts of the Consulate has started flowing into Pakistan. A Shanghai based Company SVA has invested more than 20 million Dollars in Television and Plastic molding industry in Pakistan.

In Novemebr 2008 Chief Minister Mian Muhammmad Shehbaz Sharif visited Shanghai and Jiagsu Province and during hsi visit many MOUs in fields of infrastructure,solid waste management, power production and many different fields were sigend . This visit has opened up new avenues of co-operation between Shanghai , Jiangsu and Punjab province of Pakistan.
